Points of Pride

Community Togetherness!

For the first time ever, the city of Lake City collaborated for a Breast Cancer Parade. Dr. Gonzales forged lasting community partnerships with the Lake City Government, Lake City Police and Fire Departments to ensure that the community, inclusive of Lake City Elementary, Babb Middle and Forest Park High School students, had an opportunity to join together to show support for those affected by Breast Cancer.

The resulting impact is ongoing support as a community. Students also take pride in their community because they know that we are a village.

Tea with Dr. G

Dr. Gonzales believes in involving all stakeholders inclusive of parents. Dr. Gonzales hosted "Tea With Dr. G" four times this school year to discuss school wide data and how parents can support their child(ren) at home.

The resulting impact of "Tea With Dr. G" was parents had the opportunity to dive deeply into the school wide data and how we use it to drive meaningful instruction. Students had the opportunity to discuss their data and practice for their individualized student led data conferences.

Attendance Matters!

After noticing the attendance data was less than favorable; Dr. Gonzales met with her attendance team to initiate an attendance goal setting plan for students. The students set goals and the parents met with the attendance team on how to plan for getting students to school on time and daily.

The resulting impact of our attendance initiative was an increase in daily and on time attendance. Students also started to talk to their peers about coming to school.

D9 Day
The Divine 9

It is imperative for all students to learn about many cultures and their positive contributions toward academic greatness. All D9 organizations have contributed many great things to our world inclusive of sisterhood, brotherhood, scholarship, and service. Dr. Gonzales wanted to bring this exposure to the students of Lake City Elementary School.

Dr. Gonzales reached out to different D9 members and asked them to read to our students and have a Q&A session about being college and career ready. Different D9 members did just that. The lasting impact is that students at Lake City Elementary gained exposure to a world that they did not know existed and now look forward to not only D9 possibilities but understanding that being college and career ready is vital to adulthood.

GMAS Prep Rally

GMAS Prep Rally was quite the event with a mix of entertainment from Forest Park's Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and Majorettes, along with LCE's own cheerleaders! It brought a lot of energy and school spirit. It's always great to see  groups coming together to support each other before a big event like standardized testing.

Creating a sense of community and support within the school is so important, especially during events like GMAS prep rallies. It's fantastic that the high school students took the opportunity to encourage and support the elementary students—it not only boosts morale but also fosters a strong sense of unity and mentorship within the school community. Events like these can have a lasting positive impact on everyone involved. Kudos to all involved in organizing and participating in such a meaningful event!
